WebJul 27, 2024 · By the time it was completed in 1917, the original Catskill System included Ashokan Reservoir, Kensico Reservoir, Hillview Reservoir and Silver Lake Reservoir, the 92-mile Catskill Aqueduct and City Tunnel No. 1. The work was completed by 17,243 employees at a cost of $177 million. Webreservoir flows down through a tunnel system to the new underground power plant. After passing through the plant’s turbine, it would exit back into the Ashokan, where it began. Premium Energy has proposed creating a 500-foot-long underground power plant at 200 to 300 feet below ground level at a location west of the Ashokan Reservoir.
